Happy (Belated) Mothers’ Day!

Since Mothers’ Day was last weekend I wanted to give a belated shout out to all the mamas in my life. I know now from personal experience that being a mother is the hardest, most rewarding job there is. It is both a challenge and a privilege and a job that has its ups and downs just like everything in life.

I feel so fortunate that I have found an amazing community of moms here in Prague to share the ups and downs, the joys and the minor annoyances on this great journey. When I first moved here, I was nervous about a lot of things. One of my biggest fears was that I wouldn’t be able to find friends here to connect and share with. That would be a real challenge as the mom of a new baby with a husband who travels a lot. Luckily, I’m happy to report that I didn’t have to find out what that would be like!

When we moved here, I quickly and easily found not only other expats, but other pregnant expats! Soon, I was meeting friends of friends, baby mommies, toddler mommies, and just like that my network had grown. I joined this great group that connects expat moms and I met some of my closest friends here through it.

This group and these ladies have been my life savers in these big huge life changes of moving abroad and having a child. They’ve been there for me when I desperately needed adult conversation after being stuck inside on winter days with a busy baby and traveling husband. They’ve been there when I needed to vent about another rough night or another tooth coming through. They’ve also been there to share the joys of another milestone achieved or to listen to yet another story I find funny/cute/amazing about my child.

I’ve learned that motherhood is much more enjoyable in a community, when you have others who are going through it at the same time as you. I’m glad I’ve found this community and met these amazing mamas. They make this experience all the more fun.

Happy (Belated 😉 ) Mothers’ Day to all you amazing mamas out there!
